Inside Our Reborn Doll Factory

HalcyonDoll works with a doll manufacturing partner in Huizhou, Guangdong, with twenty years of experience. Tooling, molding, painting, rooting, assembly and packing take place within the factory. Watch the workshop footage and review the manufacturing process below.

Production lines and capacity

We run tooling, silicone casting, vinyl slush moulding, painting, hair rooting, assembly and packing as separate stations on one site. Splitting them across subcontractors is how suppliers lose control of quality and lead time; keeping them together is why we can quote a firm date rather than a range.

Capacity is planned per programme rather than pulled off a rate card: tell us your volume and your target date and we will tell you straight whether we can hold it. We would rather confirm a date we can keep than publish a headline number that collapses in a peak season.

Our documented catalogue covers 6″ to 26″. The online catalogue contains 82 model entries across 26 size, material and hair combinations; additional model numbers can be discussed through a wholesale enquiry.

Master mold library

Working molds and an approved reference sample help define a repeat order. For an older design, we first confirm tooling condition, material availability and the requested finish, then agree any changes through sampling before production.

Molds are produced and maintained in-house; steel tooling for a new sculpt represents months of work, which is the honest reason a genuinely new design costs more than a private-label run of an existing one.

Molds developed for a specific customer are archived privately and never enter our public sample library. Your sculpt stays yours.

Hand painting and rooting

Skin is built in translucent layers, each heat-set before the next: mottling, then veining, then blush at knees, elbows and ears, then a matte seal. Standard grade runs three to four passes; artist grade runs up to a dozen. Single-coat work is what you see on cheap dolls, and it looks flat within a year.

Hair is rooted strand by strand with a fine needle, several hairs per pass, following growth direction and thinning at the temples. It is the slowest station on the line and the one that most separates a lifelike doll from an ordinary one.

Quality control and inspection

Inspection happens at four points rather than one final gate: incoming material check on silicone and vinyl batches, in-line checks after casting, a finish inspection on paint and rooting, and a final check on weighting, dressing and packing. Each order is measured against its sealed reference sample — not against a photo, and not against whoever is on shift that day.

For a repeat order, confirm the agreed weight, finish and packing against the approved sample before production. Weights in our own line, for reference: 18″ vinyl 760–1,150 g, 18″ cloth body 950–1,150 g, 18″ solid silicone 2,965–3,630 g.

Certifications and test reports

Two categories, deliberately kept separate:

Age grading and CPSIA obligations differ by market and by product configuration; we will tell you which standard applies to the doll you are actually ordering rather than sending a generic certificate pack.

Third-party audit and verification

We accept third-party inspection, before shipment, at your nominated agency. We also offer live video factory tours so you can see the line running in real time rather than judging a curated photo set.

If you are placing a first order at volume, do both: a live call before you commit, and a pre-shipment inspection on the first container. It costs a little and removes the single largest risk in cross-border sourcing — the gap between what was sampled and what actually shipped.

Book a factory tour or video call

Bring your specification or just a price band and a market. We will walk the line, show you the station that matters for your product, and tell you where we think your brief is wrong.

Book a walkthrough at hello@halcyondoll.com — send your dates and what you want to see, and we will confirm a slot on the line.

FAQ

Questions we get before a first order

Can you show your factory and production line?

Yes — live video call on the production floor, or an in-person visit by arrangement. We would rather show you the line running than send a file of polished stock imagery.

How many molds do you own?

The catalogue covers sizes from 6″ to 26″. A verified mold count is not currently published. Ask us to confirm tooling availability for the model you want, particularly for an older or custom design.

Can I see the certification documents?

Yes. ISO 9001:2015 covers our management system; ASTM F963 and EN71 are product safety tests our dolls are tested to. We supply the reports on request and will tell you which applies to your market.

Do you allow third-party inspection?

Yes, before shipment, through your nominated agency. For a first order at volume we recommend it as standard practice, alongside a live video call earlier in the process.

Can we do a live video factory tour?

Yes. We walk the specific stations relevant to your product — casting, painting, rooting or QC — so the call answers your actual questions rather than touring everything generically.

What is your monthly production capacity?

Capacity is confirmed against your model, quantity and required ship date. Request a production schedule with your quote; a verified monthly capacity figure is not currently published.
